Acute Pancreatits as a Complication of Bacteriologically Proven Typhoid Fever

Abstract
Acute pancreatitis has rarely been reported to occur as a complication of typhoid fever. Bacteriologically proven case of typhoid fever has not been reported in Korean literature. Recently we have seen a ratient with typhoid fever who developed acutepancreatitis as a complication His blood grew salmonella group"D"
In spite of intensive chemotheraphy with sensi tive antibiotics, the clinical course was protracted, and his body temperature and amylase level remain elevated for 3 weeks. At the end of 3 weeks, as fever, dropped, amylase level in the blood and urine carie down.
When patient witj typhoid fever - accompanies clinical features of acute abdomen, it is suggested that a-possibility of acute pancreatitis should be
investigated.
